Where to Put Security and No Trespassing Stickers on Your Home

A warning sticker only works if the right person sees it at the right moment, usually while they're sizing up the property. Here's where to put them.

The front door

Most visitors, delivery drivers and would-be intruders approach the front first. A camera or video doorbell sticker on the door glass or right next to the handle is seen by everyone. Video Doorbell In Use and Smile, You're On Camera are the most popular choices here.

Back and side doors

These entries are less visible from the street, which makes them a common way in. Put an alarm or surveillance sticker on every exterior door, not just the front.

Ground-floor windows

A small sticker in the lower corner of windows facing the yard or street signals the whole house is covered.

Gates, driveways and fences

This is the spot for no trespassing, private property and beware-of-dog messages: at the edge of the property, before someone reaches the house. Shop no trespassing stickers

Garages and sheds

Detached garages and sheds hold tools and bikes and are often less secure. A camera or alarm sticker on each entry helps.

A few rules of thumb

  • Stick at roughly eye level on a clean, dry, smooth surface.
  • Face the message outward, toward where people approach.
  • Replace stickers once they fade. Faded stickers look abandoned.
